La Voix d'Or is a musical show for lovers of French chanson! After a 2-year triumph at the Festival d'Avignon, Charles Gentes' show finally arrives in Paris at the Théâtre Actuel La Bruyère until January 12, 2025.

Directed by Éric Bu, La Voix d'Or is much more than just a musical show: it's a veritable plunge into the intense universe between theater and musical comedy, offering a fine platform for post-war French chanson , through the moving stories of key figures of the era, such as Charles Gentès.

Within the walls of Théâtre Actuel La Bruyère, spectators discover the story of Charles Gentès and Christine Vercel, two post-war stars whosepassionate, tormentedlove affair is the beating heart of this show. The protagonist, Guillaume, theater producer and grandson of Charles, convinces his friend Éric, playwright and mischievous director, to tell the story of Charles Gentes and Christine Vercel in a musical. The name La Voix d'Or comes from the nickname given to Charles Gentès.

They call on actors for their creation, but also on Guillaume's parents, who don't appreciate stirring up the wounds of the past. The musical comes to life before our very eyes, and these two icons, Charles Gentès and Christine Vercel, once famous on the stages of Montmartre cabarets and the first TV shows of the 50s, are brought back to life through a scenic reconstruction that skilfully blends reality and fiction. While the songs speak to everyone, the reconstitution is also reflected in the elaborate sets and important details. In La Voix d'Or, you won't know whether you're in the Théâtre Actuel La Bruyère or a theater from the 50s!

The casting of La Voix d'Or is refreshing. Sandrine Seubille plays Christine Vercel with remarkable intensity, while Grégory Benchenafi lends his features to Charles Gentès, doing justice to the complexity of his character. Élodie Menant, who plays Guillaume's mother Brigitte, adds further depth to the family intrigue that weaves itself around the main characters. The whole is supported by original compositions by Stéphane Isidore, who, while rearranging the period songs, adds a contemporary touch to this musical fresco. La Voix d'Or can be seen at Théâtre Actuel La Bruyère until January 12, 2025!
