Performed for the first time on the Châtelet stage back in March 2015, Singin’ in the Rain, entirely staged by the Châtelet company, has been a phenomenal success. The brilliant staging full of surprises is the work of Robert Carsen. Let’s not forget the costumes worthy of the golden age of Hollywood, the unforgettable score, the mind-blowing choreography and a talented triple threat cast (dancers-singers-actors-), these are the ingredients necessary to create the huge success of this cult masterpiece and legendary of Jean-Luc Choplin’s direction.
First became famous thanks to Hollywood and Gene Kelly in the cult MGM’s musical movie “Singin’ in the Rain” telling how talking pictures shook of the silent film, the film industry and acting careers, this musical might be the most famous one of all time.
By itself, the sequence where Gene Kelly dances in the rain embodies the whole golden age of the Hollywood musical. The song and its immediate recognizable melody has been covered and quotes numerable times. From Clockwork Orange to The Simpsons, from Glee to North by Northwest, Nacio Herbert Brown and Arthurs Freed’s score has been all around the world since its creation in 1929.
Singin’ in the Rain is back for 47 shows in English under the fabulous nave of the Grand Palais considered as the largest glass roof in Europe, to make you live the magic of Châtelet beyond its wall. This exceptional production is to be discovered from November 28, 2017 to January 11, 2018.
