He’s the greatest, he’s the lightest, he’s the wildest: Vaslav Nijinsky (1889-1950) is a fascinating dancer that keeps inspiring biopic-shows of all kinds. Famous for his dances in L’Après-midi d’un faune (The Afternoon of a Faun) and in Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring), Nijinsky came into the history of modern dance with grace and genius.
To pay homage to this incredible dancer, John Neumeier created a 2-hour long show (with an intermission). And since he likes working on the narrative, the choreographer calls in many characters that surrounded the Russian dancer of Polish origin. We meet his sister, his mentor Diaghilev, his partner and ballerina Tamara Karsavina in a series of scenes drawing – over the dancing steps – the story of a passionate life.
Brilliant, this show will please all ballet amateurs and offer your autumn a very beautiful moment.
