There's no doubt that the show will win over French audiences. War Horse has won over 25 international awards, including the Tony Award® for " Best Broadway Play" in 2011.
Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted by Nick Stafford, War Horse tells the touching story of young Albert and his horse Joey, set against the backdrop of the First World War.
On stage, War Horse marvels at the performances of 34 actors and singers in an incredible historical and musical fresco imbued with emotion and poetry. The show also calls on the talents of puppeteers to bring life to larger-than-life horses, thanks to the work of South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company.
Summary:
When the First World War breaks out, Joey, young Albert's beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and sent to France. He is soon caught in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving both sides before finding himself alone in no-man's-land. Albert, who has stayed at his parents' farm in Devon, can't forget Joey. Although still too young to enlist in the army, he undertakes a perilous mission to find his horse and bring him home.
