Revisiting the richness of Indian culture is the essence of"Bollywood Sundays" at the Musée du Quai Branly. While the exhibition"Bollywood Superstars" has just opened, the museum, true to form, is offering a range of related activities. And of course, what can you expect with an exhibition called Bollywood? Music and dance, of course!
From this Sunday, October 1, 2023, and every Sunday until January 14, 2024 (except December 24 and 31, 2023), we're invited to take an enchanting journey through the flavors of India. From 3 to 5 p.m., the experience offers a musical and dance itinerary off the beaten track. From the bewitching rhythms of Punjab to the seraphic melodies of Tamil Nadu, from the royal glamour of Rajasthan's courts to the modernism of Mumbai's nightclubs, the invitation is to a complete change of scenery. The green setting of the museum's garden is the setting for these events, offering an unprecedented cultural escape with free access.
With theIndian Arts Lab and Mahina Khanum at the helm, the promise is one of undeniable quality and preserved authenticity. Once a month, Bollywood Bals take the public even further with an initiation to festive dance inspired by the greatest Bollywood films. More than just a learning experience, these balls are a celebration of the diversity and joy of Indian culture.
The eclectic program features fascinating themes such as "Bollywood Swag", "Dance Masala" or the special balls "Colours of Navratri", "Happy Diwali", and "Jaipur Calling" illustrating the great Indian festivities.
All this leads up to the Closing Ball on January 14, 2024, a grand finale under the theme"Chennai Express", to bring this Bollywood adventure to a close. Experiencing the Musée du Quai Branly's "Bollywood Sundays" isn't just about watching, it's about interacting, learning and, above all, letting yourself be carried away by the waves of Indian music and dance.
