A new venue in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, the Red Comedy Club is located at 48 rue Basfroi, recognizable from the street thanks to its retro-style red neon lights. If you're a fan of stand-up comedy, or if you've never had the chance to see one before, the Red Comedy Club offers you 1 h of quality entertainment, with four or five established comedians, to help you unwind after a hard day's work.
We had the chance to try out the Red Comedy Club, and we recommend that you come a little before your session to enjoy the bar on the first floor. The comedy club offers homemade cocktails and mocktails, as well as beers, wines and softs. Feeling hungry? On the menu are a number of Mexican-inspired finger food dishes, more for nibbling than for real dining: a big favorite is the chicken tacos and potato fries.
If you don't have time to finish your meal or drink, no problem - you can take it downstairs during the stand-up show. The Red Comedy Club's bar menu has been designed so that spectators can nibble during the show without disturbing the comedians on stage.
The stand-up session takes place in a beautifully decorated room, with the red neon Red Comedy Club logo in the background. Unlike some comedy clubs, founder Alexandre wanted the audience to be comfortably seated during the show. Here you won't find chairs crammed together, but nice comfortable banquettes, where you're not squeezed in with your neighbor.
For 1 h, four or five confirmed comedy talents follow each other, spending 10/15 min each. If you're a regular at Parisian comedy clubs, you're bound to come across faces you've seen elsewhere. At the Red Comedy Club, comedians are not paid by the hat, which explains why tickets cost between €16 and €18 depending on the evening.
The stand-up show runs from Wednesday to Sunday (8 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 5, 6.30, 8, 9.30 p.m. Saturdays and 5 p.m. Sundays). The good thing about the Red Comedy Club is that if you don't have time before the show, you can still have a snack or a drink afterwards, as the venue is also a bar open until 2 a.m.
Alexandre, the founder, is passionate about stand-up and left his former job at Doctolib to devote himself to his passion. The Red Comedy Club, which opened last June, was born of a desire to bring the world of stand-up comedy to as many people as possible. The club is aimed at young adults and adults of all ages, who want to have a laugh and relax after a busy day.
An important feature not found in every comedy club, the Red Comedy Club offers disabled guests the opportunity to sit at the comedy club bar and watch the live stand-up show on TV.
