Guerre is a monologue adaptation of Louis-Ferdinand Céline's novel. Blending autobiographical elements with fiction, the author of the famous Voyage au bout de la nuit depicts the absurdity and horrors of war. On stage, Céline's words are brought to life by Benjamin Voisin, winner of the César for Best Newcomer in 2022 for his role in Xavier Giannoli 's Illusions perdues.
Through the story of young Ferdinand Destouches' convalescence, the author traces the profound and irreversible impact of his experience as a soldier, marked by trauma and a transformed existence. Driven by a rage to live in a world in chaos, this intense, brutal and disturbing text is also adorned with moments of emotion, burlesque and poetry. Céline displays all his literary talent in a provocative, exhilarating slang style. He explores universal themes such as death, desire, betrayal, human folly and the monstrous failings of our societies.
