From April 7 to May 6, 2018, the Parc Zoologique de Paris welcomes the program “Le Printemps des Explorateurs“. Aiming at local biodiversity, many events are scheduled: exploration game, conferences, exploring workshops and discovering days await you. To do with your friends or families.

During Spring break and even after (we enjoy public holidays), we run to the Parc Zoologique de Paris to enjoy animations that will raise awareness about biodiversity but turn you into a genuine explorer as well. The Printemps des Explorateurs, here’s the name of the nice program awaiting you from April 7 to May 6, 2018.

All along its history, the Muséum national d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) carried out expeditions to conduct an inventory of all the species and the biodiversity of our planet. Still today, if there are still animal and plant species to discover and study, expeditions are a privileged means to go and encounter them. And what if you were putting on the shoes of an explorer for a day?

On the menu of the animations:

  • An “exploration game” to get in the shoes of an explorer
Shaped like a paper chase, this game puts visitors in the shoes of an explorer by making them follow the tracks of a missing researcher. Helped by several scientists on a mission across the world, they are led to cross obstacles and solve puzzles they meet. They will then dive into modern explorers’ world and understand the importance of scientific expeditions in the world.

  • Conferences to discover today’s explorers’ daily lives
Are there still regions to explore on our planet? Even if the Terras Incognitas have disappeared from the geographical maps, the Earth is still full of many territories that need to be studied and many species to discover, from the canopy to the seabeds, from the Parisian suburb gardens to the Patagonian or Malagasy forests.
Researchers from the Museum will come and share their memories and stories on the field and present the expeditions conducted by this institution across the globe.

  • Workshops to become a daily explorer
Forest, parks, countryside… everything is good to leave the beaten tracks of the city and be united with nature for a day.
All along this workshop, some tricks are given to transform a simple stroll into a true exploration. We learn to get our bearings without using a compass, build a shelter, created tracks and messages as well as observe plants and tracks of the animals surrounding us.

  • Discovering days to get into an explorer’s shoes
The Parc Zoologique de Paris offers to discover today’s explorers’ universe during a family day. The day will start in immersion in the atmosphere of a scientific expedition during the “exploration game”, accompanied by a naturalist guide. Then, participants will go close to the sea lions from Patagonia alongside their healers and learn more about how these animals have been discovered. To complete their exploratory training, participants can introduce themselves to observing the nature and put their sense of direction to the test.
The day includes the participation to the three activities including an access backstage and a meeting with healers, as well as a lunch.

In short, do you feel like you can be an explorer for a day? Let’s go on an adventure!

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
