Zoo Safari de Thoiry: what's new?

Zoo Safari de Thoiry awaits you again this year, to the delight of families and other nature and wildlife lovers. The zoo is once again offering some great events to help you get back in touch with Mother Nature.

The Thoiry zoological park's new program:

Thoiry Lumières Sauvages 2024-2025: immerse yourself in the Extraordinary Voyages of Jules Verne!
Thoiry Lumières Sauvages is back from October 27, 2024 to March 2, 2025 with a new, ever more enchanting route. This year, the largest lantern trail in the Ile-de-France region will take us on "Voyages Extraordinaires", inspired by the works of Jules Verne. [Read more]

Unusual: sleep with the wolves in the Loudges at Thoiry Zoo (78)
A night alone with the wolves, cap or no cap? From June 2024, Thoiry Zoo will be offering you the chance to sleep up close to these fascinating animals and spend a night at the zoo. [Read more]

Step into the shoes of a ranger at Thoiry Zoo and spend a morning with the zoo's caretakers, preparing food, observing animal care and enjoying an unusual experience. [Read more]

Become an animal caretaker at Thoiry Zoo for half a day
Thoiry Safari Zoo offers budding animal caretakers a half-day behind-the-scenes look at the world of animal care. On the program? Preparing food for the animals, feeding the giraffes and cleaning the homes of these four-legged residents. [Read more]

Thoiry Zoo's new lodges in Terres d'Afrique: an immersion among elephants
After the unusual dens, Thoiry Zoo is now launching a new zone called "Terre d'Afrique", featuring an educational and immersive area with a new Elephant House and 5 cosy lodges where you can sleep in total immersion among the elephants, right in the heart of the African plain. A mini golf course amid the animals at Thoiry Zoo (78)
Fancy a game of mini-golf at the zoo? Then head to the Thoiry Zoo Safari, better known simply as the "Thoiry Zoo", in the Yvelines region of France, to discover this unique concept with the whole family, from July 8, 2023. [Read more]

And adventurers can always discover :

• Terres des Gorilles: in the summer of 2020, Thoiry Zoo welcomed a new species, a group of male gorillas endangered by deforestation, agriculture, coltan mining, poaching and the development of human viruses. To ensure the preservation of the gorillas and enable them to reproduce at their best, it is recommended that they be kept in harems (one male for several females). This gender inequality means that some zoos, such as Thoiry, accept only male gorillas, with no possibility of new births.
  
• Mini-Farm
  A true paradise for the little ones, the mini-farm is expanding and welcoming new residents: woolly pigs, rabbits, Highland cows, dwarf donkeys... New fur balls are arriving to the delight of families!

• Wild Forest
  This new area, focusing on temperate forests, welcomes adventurers this year to discover new species. Polar foxes, raccoons, and vultures, fallow deer and deer in the water. A wonderful opportunity to raise public awareness of the biodiversity of our nearby regions, with a special focus on the new area's century-old trees.
  
• Safari dinners
  An opportunity to dine in the wild, surrounded by animals, in a special atmosphere, with vegetarian options available.
  
• And let's not forget the new arrivals and births, like the baby lions.

• CHUCK WITH PLEASURE as you fly over the lions and part of the safari on a Tyrolean traverse.
• MINGING as you climb the Safari Air Park and enjoy a magnificent view of the animals on the African Plain.
• RECOVER THE BEAST by walking from island to island to get up close to several species of lemur
• FEEL THE FAUVE on an off-the-beaten-track safari in a bush truck
  

After the Tyrolean traverse and the Safari truck, the park offers visitors even more sensations with the Safari Air Park and the Lemurtrek. It's the perfect opportunity to get your frights up and have fun at the same time.

Safari Air Park:

The Safari Air Park features 1,500 m2 of bouncing nets stretched between the trees, at a height of 9 metres at the highest point above ground! Perfectly respecting the estate's hundred-year-old oak trees, the nets impose no stress or force on the trees, and the new system even enhances them! Thousands of visitors will once again be able to admire these trees. In complete safety and without being harnessed, intrepid young and old alike will rediscover the sensation of freedom! From up there, they'll be able to contemplate the African Plain with a breathtaking view.

Lemurtrek:

Located just a few steps from the mini-farm and playground, the 3 islands that were previously the exclusive territory of the lemur makis cattas are now open to the public. Visitors can stroll around the islands, which are linked by walkways and monkey bridges. The trail offers a close-up view of makis cattas , of course, but also of six other species of lemur , all of which live together in the wild. White-fronted and black lemurs are joined by black and white varis, red varis, red-bellied lemurs and crowned lemurs.

Andes Trek:

This area , with its market stalls and bright colors, is dedicated to three typical South American species: the alpaca (domestic cousin of the vicuña and guanaco), the mara (a high-legged rodent also known as the Patagonian hare) and the guinea pig (a small rodent well known to children, native to the Andes mountain range)! Nearby, tapirs, capybaras and giant anteater (a strange 2-metre-long mammal with abundant fur and impressive claws) can be observed in a vast park where they mingle as they would in the wild.

The Australian Trek:

A large 25-meter-longaviary is home to Australian rainbow lorikeets and other colorful species of parakeets of all sizes. Adventurers can feed the birds fruit nectar in this lushly vegetated aviary. This leads visitors to a park dedicated to wallabies, kangaroos, emus and cassowaries.

In short, a fine program of new features to discover this park, ever closer to nature and animals.
