Known as the oldest garden in Paris, the Jardin des Tuileries is located in the heart of the capital, a stone' s throw from Place de la Concorde and its obelisk, close to the Madeleine church and, above all, adjacent to the courtyard of the Palais du Louvre, home to the famous glass pyramid. Popular with the kings and queens of France, including François 1er and Catherine de Médicis, who ordered its development, the site was finally redesigned in 1664 by André Le Nôtre, creator of the gardens at Versailles, to open the promenade to the general public. Centuries later, the garden underwent a series of destructions, followed by a complete renovation in the 1990's to form the site we know today.
As you stroll around, don't miss the Octagonal Basin, the Arc de Triomphe and, above all, the kid-friendly activities on offer in the garden. Choose from a trampoline session, a ride on the garden's carousel or a climbing and sliding session on theacrobatic playground. The carousel and trampoline are chargeable at €3 per ride.
The Tuileries Gardens are open every day, all year round, with opening times varying according to the season. To get there, take metro line 1 (Tuileries stop) or lines 7 and 14 (Pyramides stop). Want to take the kids for a ride soon?
