The Paris Sème operation is once again inviting you to collect seed packets of local plants free of charge, this April 5, 2025, on the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville. There's plenty of time to dress up your window boxes with pretty colors and get your hands in the soil, to celebrate spring, with events focusing on nature in the city and urban agriculture!
These wild plant seeds from the Paris region help local wildlife by providing food and shelter. In return, wildlife provides a service to plants through pollination and seed dispersal- an essential interdependence for biodiversity. Among the plants distributed are chamomile, cornflower, poppy, birdsfoot trefoil, yarrow, musk mallow, salad burnet, oregano, field marigold and field cockle. In short, local plants that contribute to the greening and biodiversity of the capital.
The program includes potting and sowing workshops run by the Maison du Jardinage, information on training and job opportunities in green spaces with theEcole Du Breuil, awareness-raising activities on compost and waste management, climate and water resource issues, and educational games for children.
Awareness-raising activities:
Several associations will be present, including the LPO , which will be showing curiosities about birds and the biodiversity that surrounds us, the Société Nationale d'Horticulture de France and PikPik Environnement.
The family-friendly event will also feature a mobile toy library run by the Au temps du jeu association, and musical entertainment by the Pikolo Brass band. The perfect combination of good value and free entertainment.
