ZooSafari de Thoiry: new features for 2024 to immerse you in the zoo's wildlife

Thoiry Zoo is offering us a great day out: for this new season, this unique zoo in France is taking us on an unforgettable adventure up close to the animals.

For the new 2024 season, the zoo is offering - in addition to the numerous courses and special days to become an animal caretaker for a day - a complete course, with five days at Thoiry Zoo as part of the Safari Academy. Children aged 7 to 12 can learn how to care for the animals, prepare their food rations, clean their enclosures... And understand what's at stake in protecting each species.

Hippos, wildebeests, giraffes, dromedaries, wolves and bears await you on your visit to the zoo! You can choose between a safari or a walking tour: the two complement each other, but you can of course choose to do either one or the other. Of over 1,400 animals of 150 species, only 200 animals of 30 species can be seen on the safari, while the rest of the residents can be seen on the walking tour.

Stroll fromLemur Island to the big cat enclosures (lynx, tiger, cheetah, leopard...), passing through Gorilla Land, an islet where you'll come across numerous species of monkeys, chimpanzees and large gorillas. You can even hop aboard a bush truck for an African safari: a chance to see hippos, elephants, antelopes, ostriches and even giraffes just a few meters away! Aspiring adventurers may want to pack their binoculars to see all these savannah animals up close.

On site, don't miss the zip-line above the wildcats, the Safari Air Park (1,500 m² of bouncing nets stretched between the trees), which was given a makeover last season, the lemurtrek (a course between 3 islands for close-up observation of the maki cattas) and the Australian Trek around the 25m-long aviary, home to Australian rainbow lorikeets and parakeets of all sizes.
