Part of the vast Domaine départemental de la Vallée-aux-Loups, theArboretum, located in the commune of Châtenay-Malabry, extends over 12.5 hectares. The park offers a calm, bucolic escape, where you can stroll through the many themed gardens, ponds, suspension bridges, convolvulaceae greenhouse or alder alley.
Among the park's 500 plant species, don't miss the Atlas weeping cedar, classified as a Remarkable Tree in 2001. This 150-year-old tree spreads its branches over an area of 700 m2. The sight of its branches with their bluish thorns falling gently to the ground or the surface of the nearby pond is a moving, poetic experience of rare plant beauty.
In some places, sculptures by artist Francis Ballu support the tree, composing a subtle partition between nature and creation. Not far away, a giant sequoia pierces the sky with its massive trunk and branches. Although it doesn't match the size and girth of its compatriots in the American West, its 33-meter height makes us look up in a vain attempt to catch a glimpse of its summit.
It's the perfect place to get away from it all, without straying too far from Paris. TheIle-de-France region is full of nuggets that remind us just how beautiful nature can be. Whether you're a family, a couple or a group of friends, theArboretum de la Vallée-aux-Loups will impress you and offer you a peaceful moment rich in beautiful discoveries. So, are you ready to set off on the conquest of this Ile-de-France stroll that immerses you in a verdant setting?
