The majestic Château de Breteuil becomes the setting for a one-day historical re-enactment. From 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on May 5, 2024, visitors will travel back in time to the 1900s, the era of the eighth marquis of the Breteuil family, Henri de Breteuil. It was at this time that the estate underwent profound transformations and embarked on the road to modernity.
The Château de Breteuil was not only the symbol of a prosperous period. It also became a meeting place for the great crowned heads of Europe and eminent figures from the artistic world. Famous visitors included England's King Edward VII, writer Marcel Proust and actress Réjane.
On this exceptional day, with no extra charge and no need to book, the château team will guide you through an exciting and original Belle Époque experience. The program includes an immersive tour of the château, faithfully restored to its turn-of-the-century ambience, and lively historical reconstructions based on the captivating story of Henri de Breteuil and his illustrious guests!
An unusual experience, and less expensive if you come in period costume to blend in with the crowd! Who knows, you might be mistaken for one of the actors or dancers!
