Get out your diary for April 27 and 28, 2024, for a trip back in time. That weekend, head for the Château de la Madeleine, nestled in the picturesque Yvette valley in Chevreuse, to (re)discover Les Rendez-vous de la Madeleine.
This initiative, supported by the Département des Yvelines, plunges us back in time to the fascinating world of medieval life over 4 lively weekends, from late April to October. A real leap back in time to relive the splendors of a bygone era, while showcasing this heritage gem.
Château de la Madeleine, which has watched over the seigneury of Chevreuse for almost a thousand years, offers an exceptional panorama of the region. With its keep, guard tower, moats, battlements and machicolations, it is an impressive testimony to medieval military architecture, its defensive elements having been erected between the 12th and 17th centuries. Les Rendez-vous de la Madeleine celebrates this rich history with weekend-long re-enactments focusing on various aspects of medieval life. Each weekend is devoted to a specific theme.
On April 27 and 28, 2024, the Château de la Madeleine kicks off with a bang, featuring troupes L'Arbre de Sovenance and Les Regrattiers d'Histoire. The two days will feature performances by troubadours and minstrels, accompanied by period instruments such as oboes, trumpets and percussion, and acrobats in a festive medieval atmosphere from 11am to 8pm.
The initiative aims to promote the exceptional heritage of the Yvelines department through a varied program. After this first event focusing on medieval music and performance, other themed weekends are planned, ranging from medieval siege art to tales and legends, to immerse visitors in different facets of history.
