Over the past few years, knitting and embroidery have been on a roll! On March 16 and 17, 2024, the 8th edition of the Fête de la Laine will reveal all the secrets of woollen yarn, through an eco-responsible, open-access festival that brings together artisans, retailers, breeders, designers and the general public. The more inquisitive will be able to try their hand at various techniques duringworkshops at various locations in Malakoff, including the Urban Farm and La Tréso, a third-party cooperative space.
The 56 exhibitors on site will be delighted to unveil their products in knitting, crochet, felting, embroidery, tapestry and more, as well as their exceptional know-how, based on a French tradition. It's an opportunity to find out more about the arts of yarn, not only over the weekend, but also for two weeks, throughout the town, with conferences, exhibitions, a fashion show, a tombola and demonstrations at shopkeepers'!
This year, during the fashion show, the public can propose what they have knitted, crocheted or woven with the materials purchased during the previous edition! An area is also reserved for the little ones, to introduce them to the pleasures of yarn: knitting, pom-poms, wool collage, making scrunchies - enough to create vocations from an early age! And while the majority of adult workshops are fee-paying, a free introductory knitting workshop is also offered by volunteers.
