With itsItalian-Moorish inspiration, Parc Boussard is a departure from the traditional French or English-style gardens we're used to seeing in the Paris region. Rather, it's inspired by the Art Deco period, which saw the blossoming of Hector Guimard's arches at the entrances to metro stations, beautiful curved facades in Paris... Parc Boussard combines aesthetics and economical materials, with the aim of opening up landscape art to all, as the Art Deco movement intended.
Created in the 1920s, Parc Boussard was designed byarchitect Joseph Massart at the request ofHenri Boussard, who wanted to build a house and large garden for his family in Lardy. With its large flagstones, boxwood borders and geometric lines, the garden is freely inspired by the Art Deco style, in a play of light and color reminiscent of Hispano-Moorish gardens.
In 1997, Parc Boussard was officially listed as a historic monument, but the garden was in a sorry state and in need of a major facelift. This was followed by a major renovation, from 2020 to 2022. When it reopened, Parc Boussard was soon awarded the prestigious "Remarkable Garden" label, which had already been awarded to 43 other parks and gardens in the Paris region.
The garden, which is entirely free and open to all, is open every day, all year round, with opening times varying according to the season. From April 1 to October 31, the park is open from 8am to 8pm, and from November 1 to March 31, it is open from 8am to 6pm.
To get there, take the RER C towards Saint-Martin d'Etampes and get off at the "Lardy" stop, then walk for about ten minutes. Have a nice walk in the Parc Boussard!
