Technology at the service of tourism. Wanderlab, Tripadvisor’s in-house creative and content studio, collaborated with Abu Dhabi to present the innovative project "A Doorway Into Abu Dhabi,"a one-of-a-kind multisensory immersive experience that revolutionizes the way we explore dream destinations.
Thanks to 360 immersive projection and augmented reality, visitors at Europe’s largest shopping mall—Westfield Forum des Halles—will be transported to iconic locations in the capital of the United Arab Emirates through domes installed in the center of Paris!
Each dome will showcase a unique destination, including the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Al Ain Oasis and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a remarkable achievement by the French architect Jean Nouvel. The experience also highlights tourist areas, from the Saadiyat Beach Club on the shores of the Persian Gulf to the cultural epicenter of the Saadiyat Cultural District in Abu Dhabi, which brings together an exceptional concentration of cultural experiences, symbolizing Abu Dhabi's artistic richness, diversity, and innovation.
Using smart segmentation and machine learning, cameras recognize people standing in front of the digital doorway, allowing multiple people to share the same virtual space, giving the impression of being directly immersed in Abu Dhabi!
The final step for visitors will be the Abu Dhabi Arch. Here, visitors can use their phone to project a doorway that will transport them directly to three exclusive Abu Dhabi destinations: Al Ain Zoo, Jubail Mangrove Park, and Qasr Al Hosn. Thanks to unprecedented 3D animations and augmented reality, visitors will open a portal that allows them to immerse themselves in the experience of exploring this incredible city, with the added bonus of taking a souvenir photo in the destination of their choice.
To conclude this unforgettable journey, and in the spirit of Emirati hospitality, visitors will receive a gift bag with a few goodies and will have the chance to win a luxury trip for two to Abu Dhabi.
