After a successful first edition, the Festival des Lanternes Flottantes returns to the Wat Pho Pagoda in Paris, a place steeped in spirituality and history. This Buddhist temple, located in Breux-Jouy in the Essonne département (91), is one of the most important Thai spiritual centers in the Paris region. Inspired by its famous namesake in Bangkok, Wat Pho in Paris boasts traditional Thai architecture, tranquil gardens and an atmosphere conducive to meditation and contemplation.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can take part in a day of festivities, where Thai culture takes center stage. The day's program includes traditional dance performances, Thai musicconcerts and even competitions, including the Junior Traditional Dance and Singing Competition. Another highlight will undoubtedly be the contest for the most beautiful lantern, where works of light will compete in creativity.
The festival would not be complete without an immersion in Thai gastronomy. Numerous stands will be offering culinary specialties, a veritable gustatory voyage to the heart of Thailand, with the addition of handcrafted products imported directly from the country. So you can not only admire, but also taste and treat yourself to a little piece of Thailand at these stands.
For this festive day, free shuttles will be available from the Breuillet Village train station, facilitating access for all those who wish to discover this unique event. The free and accessible nature of the festival reflects the organizers' determination to bring this warm and colorful facet of Thai culture to a wide audience.
Located in the heart of the verdant Orge Valley, the Wat Pho Paris Pagoda attracts not only Buddhist devotees, but also visitors curious to discover an authentic place of worship in the Paris region. Surrounded by trees and gardens, the pagoda offers an atmosphere of rare serenity only an hour from Paris, perfect for events such as this festival. Last year's festival was a great success.
This day at the Wat Pho Pagoda in Paris promises to be a privileged opportunity to immerse yourself in Thai culture without leaving the Paris region. A not-to-be-missed opportunity for a cultural stroll, with family or friends, while enjoying the scenery and exotic atmosphere of this event.
