Paris is a party, especially in summer! During the summer season, the capital offers a wide range of great events to enjoy with friends and family. And among the must-see events of theParisian summer is theÉté du Canal, a fun-filled festival on the banks of the Canal de l'Ourcq and the Canal Saint-Denis, as well as the Bassin de la Villette.
Good news, because the Été du Canal returns every weekend from July 6 to August 11, 2024 , for a 17th edition that promises to be festive! Entertainment on the water and on the quays awaits you, with floating concerts, open-air balls, street-art, cruises, workshops and sports activities , all free or at a low price, around the theme of the Olympic Games!
The program of events on the water includes river shuttles costing 1 or 2 euros, which will take you on a trip along the Canal de l'Ourcq, the Canal Saint-Denis and all the way to the North Loop of the Seine, with a stopover at one of the many events taking place along the quays. Several guided cruises are also on offer: discovery cruises will teach you all about street art, heritage or gastronomy. The concept is taken a step further, as you can even enjoy art exhibitions or fun workshops on board, or attend a cinema screening on the quayside.
Floating concerts are also back, with DJs, musicians and singers performing from the terrace of a boat. On the banks, you'll also find a wild program of events at Le Barboteur, La Prairie du Canal, L'Oasis d'Oremi, Le 6b, the Metaxu barge, Lil'Ô and Jardin21. Along the Canal de l'Ourcq, , you can take part in a number of free water sports activities. Pedalos, kayaks, zodiacs, inflatables or even paddleboats - you're spoilt for choice!
Creative workshops such as screen-printing and street art, as well as exhibitions and cultural barges, are also on the program, especially near Olympic venues such as the Stade de France, Club France, the Olympic Aquatic Center and the Athletes' Village, during the competition. And don't forget Olympic sports initiations and demonstrations, and the broadcasting of events on giant screens!
In addition to the guided walks , bike rides and kayak tours that will teach you more about the Paris region's heritage, a new feature this year is "Au fil de l'autre", a trail of photographic installations along the Canal de l'Ourcq, featuring a series of unique, monumental works that enhance the urban landscape.
Something to keep you busy all summer long!
