The traditional Paris Carnival returns to the capital this Sunday, March 2, 2025. For this 27th edition, Parisians and tourists alike will gather to keep alive this festive and zany tradition whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. Here's to the famous colorful procession through the streets of the capital.
Carnaval de Paris - Promenade du Bœuf Gras, usually takes place on the Sunday before Mardi Gras. This year's theme, which you are free to follow or not, is: "Love, Peace and Joy".
The meeting point is usually at 1pm on Place Gambetta in the 20ᵉ arrondissement. The start is at 2pm, following the route below:

We remind you that this carnival is a festive event that is free, voluntary, traditional, independent, self-managed, apolitical, non-profit-making and non-subsidized. Everyone is welcome! You don't have to register to take part. You can decide at the last minute whether or not to take part, in fixed or mobile mode, on all or part of the route. Placement is free in both processions. This is the real carnival, not a street show.
And don't forget, on Sunday April 6, 2025, the other traditional Paris Carnival parade: the Reines des Blanchisseuses de la Mi-Carême women's Carnival. Women are invited to dress as queens, and men as women.
