In Paris, lovers of craft beers are spoilt for choice, thanks to the opening of several good addresses in recent years. But if you're looking for an unusual taproom that breaks the mould, then come and push open the doors of Brique Machine, in the capital's 2nd arrondissement.
With Brique Machine, forget everything you already know and let yourself be carried away by the madness of Baptiste Dufossez and Joseph Timmermans, the two founders of this ultra-friendly, offbeat new Parisian address. With Brique Machine, the two acolytes take us back in time to the 90s. In this impressive taproom of over 1,100m², spread over three levels, guests are invited to step back in time, to the era when Brenda and Brandon from"Beverly Hills" were on everyone's lips,"Baywatch" was making waves and the Furby and Kiki craze had invaded every room.
From the moment you enter, Brique Machine is a real eye-catcher, with its striking pink, neon lights, arcade games and (very) many stickers. Another positive point, and not the least, is that the place offers several different spaces, including the " swimming pool ", a large room set up in front of the pizzeria's open kitchen, but also the banquette area for more intimate discussions, and an incredible space that will soon be available for private use upstairs.
But beyond its eye-catching decor and warm welcome from a dynamic team, Brique Machine is first and foremost a taproom, or rather a hybrid between restaurant and craft brasserie. The brewing vats at the back of the establishment, the counter at the entrance and the many craft beers on the menu make this obvious.
On the menu? Forever beers to be enjoyed (in moderation) all year round, such as " La Bagarre " , a double IPA with citrus notes, or " Yankee Trouble ", a tropical New England IPA. Opposite, the experimental beers include " Black Hops ", a Porter with caramel notes and a slight roast, and the surprising " Mi-figue mi-câlin ", both bitter and sweet. For this series of experimental beers, the venue plans to offer a new creation every 15 days. Coming soon? A raspberry and basil beer for this summer! And if you don't know which one to choose, we'd advise you to opt for the galopin, or you can also ask the place's brewmaster, the very friendly Charles, for advice!
To accompany these little foams, Brique Machine unveils a street food menu inspired by iconic US pop culture recipes, with a choice of burgers and pizzas, as well as healthier options such as quinoa salad, ceviche and marinated octopus.
For our part, we're tempted by the inevitable " Welsh du Ch'nord " in homage to Brique House's birthplace. A classic Northern French dish made with farmhouse bread, ham, beer cheddar and Dijon mustard, it's always a hit!
Opposite us is the " Napoli " pizza, with its light, honeycombed dough, tomato sauce, fior di latte mozza, guanciale, egg, parmesan and fresh basil.
Behind Brique Machine are Baptiste Dufossez and Joseph Timmermans, two friends behind Brique House, a brewery concept born in Lille in 2020 and offering a creative, alternative vision of beer. And it didn't take long for success to follow, as the duo has already opened three locations in Lille and one in Bordeaux. Now, the two friends have landed in Paris, with Brique Machine, which proves to be the duo's biggest taproom to date! So, are you ready to discover the Parisian taproom that breaks codes?
