At the height of the festive season, while the illuminations and festive events in every corner of Paris are a joy to behold, the cold winter weather can sometimes make us dream of a change of scenery. And if the capital is at the crossroads of cuisines from all over the world, African gastronomy remains a relatively under-represented part of the Parisian gourmet landscape. So, for the curious among the frightened, an ephemeral restaurant invites you to enjoy a comforting Afro-fusion menu at an address inspired by Congolese sapeurs.
So it's time to dress to the nines at 25 Hours Hotel Terminus Nord, home to the Sape Bar. From December 5 to 23, 2023, you'll be able to take advantage of this concept, which promises a convivial atmosphere. For almost three weeks, the Tontons Afro will be taking charge of the kitchen, serving up tapas and exotic cocktails that pay tribute to African gastronomy and echo the culture of the 10th arrondissement, where SapeBar is located.
For some, the name Tontons Afro may sound familiar. This concept, launched by two Cameroonian brothers nicknamed Tonton Gaudrey and Tonton Freddy, already has a first address in Lille based around "afronomic" cuisine. Now, with this short-lived Parisian restaurant, the Tontons Afro are setting out to conquer the capital. It remains to be seen whether this heralds a future permanent address in the City of Light.
