Come and spend a family Sunday at the Musée du Quai Branly, this Sunday, April 21, 2024. To attract children and help them discover the arts and cultures of Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas, the museum is offering workshops, tours and story readings all afternoon... A great outing for young and old alike!

On the last Sunday of the Easter vacations 2024, the Musée du Quai Branly is once again organizing one of its Family Sundays, a not-to-be-missed event for young visitors to the museum. Throughout the afternoon, from 2pm to 6pm, immerse yourself in collections from all over the world, with music as the main theme.

This Sunday, April 21, 2024, come and enjoy a musical moment with your family, to the rhythm of sounds from all over the world, and discover instruments from the four corners of the globe. From the age of 3 upwards, you can take part in workshops, listen attentively to tales or discover the collections of the Musée du Quai Branly during mini-tours for families. There's plenty to delight young and old alike, while discovering one of Paris's most emblematic museums. Echoing the exhibition Mexica. Gifts and Gods at the Templo Mayor, the museum is adapting its usual program for toddlers aged 3 and over and families with children for this Sunday afternoon, April 21, from 2pm to 6pm.

The Musée du Quai Branly regularly offers its Family Sundays, entirely free of charge, to make the museum accessible to all, even the youngest visitors. It's an opportunity to discover the collections with guided tours or adapted storytelling, but above all, there are always great workshops to take part in and marvel at as a family.

On the program for this Sunday at the Musée du Quai Branly:

Discovering glyphs - Workshop

  • Salle de cours 1 - on collection of countermarks - from 6 years old
  • workshop duration: 30 minutes
Children, equipped with a magic lamp, will be invited to discover the sign assigned to them and to record it. Then, by observing a reproduction of a codex, they'll find it and decipher its meaning. An investigation for the whole family!

"Quetzalcóatl" - Workshop
  • Classroom 2 - with countermarks - ages 3 and up
  • session duration: 30 minutes

In this workshop, visitors are invited to discover one of the main deities of ancient Mexico: Quetzalcoatl, the god of wind, light, wisdom and autumn. Young and old alike can create this famous feathered serpent using cut-out paper and collage, and then personalize it.

Storytelling sessions

  • Classroom 3 - on collection of vouchers - ages 3 and up

Cocoa discovery area
  • Workshop room 1 - free access subject to availability - from 3 years old

Here, visitors can learn more about cocoa, from its origins to the present day. A plunge into a world full of colors and flavors.

Introduction to archaeology

  • Workshop room 2/3 - free access subject to availability - from 6 years upwards
  • continuous
Visitors will be introduced to the archaeology profession: surveys, measurements, drawings and photographs - there are many essential steps before digging. An opportunity to understand the many facets of archaeology, with the help of an excavation site.

In the cinema

  • Screenings of short films on the theme of South America
ages 6 and up - at 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 pm
duration of screening: 30 minutes - free admission, subject to availability
A selection of short films about Mexico and South America in general will be screened several times during the afternoon.

  • Games of kem's around mexican divinities

Sessions start at the entrance to the show - ages 6 and up, duration: 30 minutes

Kem's games will be organized throughout the afternoon in the Salon de Lecture, a fun and friendly way to learn more about Mexican divinities.

  • Storytelling mini-tours

Tours depart from the entrance to the Collections area - ages 6 and up, duration: 15 to 20 minutes - admission ticket required.

An opportunity to discover tales from four continents and explore the museum's collections in a new way.
