Like every year, the Bergerie Nationale celebrates the change of season with the Shearing and Wool Festival, on Saturday March 22 and Sunday March 23, 2025, from 11am to 6pm.
The Merino sheep is the emblematic animal of the Bergerie Nationale de Rambouillet : the breed has been present at the Bergerie for over 200 years, and its wool is particularly prized. So, for two days, families and professionals alike are invited to find out all about this special breed.
What's on? Come and visit the sheepfolds, learn all there is to know about working with wool, and follow the sheep-shearing and herding dog demonstrations from A to Z! La Bergerie also offers horse-drawn carriage rides, and there's a designer's market especially for the occasion. And don't forget the knitting café and crochet tea, where you can knit in a friendly atmosphere, and the stilt walk for the more sporty of you! There's something for all ages, for young and old alike, and it's like a real village fete!
Otherwise, as usual, the Bergerie educational farm also opens its doors to you, with a tour circuit to follow and plenty of farm animals to cross paths with. A great way to officially celebrate the arrival of spring 2024!
Over 100 Romanes ewes shorn in two days.
45-minute carriage ride around the Bergerie estate.
Come and crochet or knit and meet other knitting enthusiasts at this knitting café.
A tricky route to try out on stilts!
