On the second floor of the Centre Georges Pompidou, this is the playroom of the capital's most important cultural space: the Galerie des enfants is the family space that welcomes children from 3 to 10 years old on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday afternoons during the school year, or every afternoon during the vacations (except Tuesday, the museum's weekly closing day).
Currently, it is the Plantamouves, these plants all made of moss that the Centre Pompidou houses, until September 4: the installation, as playful as it is colorful, puts the body back at the heart of the Children's Gallery, to allow the youngest as well as the oldest to let off steam in a playful space, created for them.
The plantamouves, the giant foam installation of the Centre Pompidou, to play with your family
When you hear about plantamouves, you may be imagining a large, colorful plant that can be admired freely. If so, you are almost there! The difference is that the installation of the plantamouves is even more playful: even if we are in a museum, you, your children/nephews/grandchildren are free to roll around, step over, jump on these multicolored puddles! For the little ones, go to thebaby space, one floor below, where every three months (every quarter), a contemporary artist proposes installations to help the little ones awaken. At the moment, it is Charlotte Attal who proposes inflatable installations, sometimes soft, sometimes bouncy, to participate in the awakening and the motor skills of the little ones.
On the same floor, you will find the workshop rooms: the one for 6-10 year olds and the one for the youngest, from 2 to 5 years old. The workshops are offered in the form of workshop visits, with a first approach to the collections or a temporary exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, followed by a workshop to discover a specific universe, technique or medium. Every three months, the same as for the baby area: the workshop rooms are transformed (from floor to ceiling), to let the children (accompanied by their parents) work around the work of a contemporary artist.
The advantage is that children under 25 don't have to pay for their entrance ticket: what a great family plan, since the children's ticket is free! So, shall we go to the Galerie des enfants this weekend?
