Since early September, Shangri-La bar displays a new decorum that makes us travel through time. In tribute to Prince Roland Bonaparte, former owner of what used to be the private mansion, the bar becomes Le Bar Botaniste.
Roland Bonaparte used to own the world’s greatest private herbarium with 2,5000 specimens. Arnaud Thirel, the current barman chef of Shangri-La came up with a green area and a brand-new cocktail list using forgotten spirits.
Browsing through the menu that looks like a plant book, we discover drinks with dream-inducing names and unexpected blends, such as La Vie en Rose.
Made of Gin Gendrick’s, Saint Germain liquor, rose water and cranberry water and served with a delicate sentence that recalls a figure in Paris: “Quand il vous prend dans ses bras… Un je ne sais quoi de la vie parisienne”.
The decoration, from the bar to the tableware, without forgetting the plant wall, takes us straight to the core of plant collector Bonaparte’s passion. A travel through time in the heart of ancient flavors not lacking taste!
