If you followed the great ceremony celebrating the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris this weekend, we suggest you (re)discover three other must-see cathedrals in the vicinity of Paris, and especially, less than an hour from the capital. These jewels of France's heritage, which have stood the test of time, have now been embellished with spectacular sound and light shows, making them the perfect outing for families and friends alike.
From November 29, 2024 to January 4, 2025, Reims Cathedral, just 50 minutes by train from Paris, will be showing Regalia, a multimedia show that takes you right to the heart of the history of Reims.
From the Gare du Nord station, in 1h20 (okay, we cheated, it's just over an hour), Amiens Cathedral is lit up with Chroma, a show running from November 29 to December 29, 2024 this winter. This year, a tribute sequence to Notre-Dame de Paris will also be included in the show, which brings the Cathedral's saints, apostles and other figures back to life.
In just 1 hour from the Gare Montparnasse, you can stop off in Chartres, in the Eure-et-Loir department, to discover Chartres en lumières fête Noël, a brand-new version of the show usually projected onto the cathedral for most of the year. Angels, elves and other magical decorations are projected onto the facades of this immense cathedral, along a route that includes more than a dozen points of interest.
