The fight against Covid is growing stronger… As the number of new cases does not decrease as much as expected, is the lockdown exit strategy to continue and initiate phase two from December 15 up to the Holidays? Keep reading to find out more.

This year, Covid will unfortunately be underneath the Christmas tree… As the number of new cases stagnates, making the 5,000-case-per-day by December 15 goal harder to meet, could French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Jean Castexlockdown exit strategy be reassessed?
Will museums, theaters, movie theaters and other show venues be allowed to reopen as planned? Will the French be able to celebrate the Holidays with their families?

Even though authorities are doubtful, this new lockdown exit phase is not to be reassessed for the time being, Franceinfo says. It includes – among others – the possibility to “move, without derogatory trip certificates, including from one region to the other, and spend Christmas with one’s family” as Emmanuel Macron explained during his televised address on November 24; but cultural places such as museums, movie theaters, theaters and show venues are to reopen as well. A reopening Jean Castex could alter this Thursday December 10 during his new press brief. “People can understand we cannot fully let go of the pressure to enjoy the Holidays” a member of the executive said.

To find out, you will have to wait this conference, but the evolution in the number of cases – addressed on Monday December 7 by Health director Jérôme Salomon – is “clearly bad news” as Olivier Véran’s entourage explains. “We lack visibility” President Macron’s entourage underlines. For the record, a Defense Council is planned on Wednesday December 9 prior to Jean Castex’ address.
