Is Île-de-France to be subject to new restrictions in the coming days? This is what many Île-de-France inhabitants have been wondering lately, as the incidence rate has authorities worried.
Invited on France Inter this Monday March 15, Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris head of crisis Professor Bruno Riou said the situation will quickly grow “out of control” in hospitals in the area. “The situation is not out of control yet, but will be. I hear many people say that a week without lockdown is a week won, I consider it a lost week”, he said, adding that one ICU patient in four dies and that “400,000 French will have long Covid”.

“In the lack of major government decisions, the coming two weeks are already written in terms of ICU admissions,” Pr. Riou also warned.
For the record, health evacuations are to continue in Île-de-France. “These transfers will not be able to go on with the same intensity: the number of beds in other regions is limited, families will be reluctant, we’ll struggle to find enough patients to transfer”, he said on the matter.
“Today, there are only two known-therapies to fight against coronavirus: lockdown and vaccination. But vaccination takes time before delivering effects”, Riou concluded.
