As more and more French distrust some Covid vaccines, Europe 1 radio station reports the Health Minister is considering anonymizing doses and therefore no longer tell the name of the vaccine given to the person during the appointment.

The vaccination campaign goes on in France. Since April 16, people aged 60+ without comorbidities are given access to the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, while everyone aged 55+ can be vaccinated since Monday April 12, but only with the AstraZeneca vaccine. A vaccine making many French distrustful.

According to an Odoxa-Backbone Consulting survey for France Info and Le Figaro published this past April 8, 71% of the people surveyed do not want of the Swedish-British vaccine because of the cases of thrombosis found in several people given a first dose of the serum.

Same mistrust to Janssen. The vaccine developed by American group Johnson & Johnson was to arrive in French pharmacies from April 22, 2021. But deliveries are delayed because of an investigation carried out in the United States and in Europe following several severe cases of thromboses in women under the age of 50 in the United States. At the time the survey has been carried out, 59% of people said to trust this new vaccine.

During the press brief held this Thursday April 22, Health Minister Olivier Véran announced the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will start to be given starting this Saturday April 24 in pharmacies. The vaccine arrives after being assessed safe on Tuesday April 20 by the European Medicines Agency. [Read more]

Moderna and Pfizer – the two mRNA technology using vaccines said to be 95% effective against Covid-19 – inspire trust more, even though, some people do not. The American vaccine convinced 65% of the French surveyed, while the Pfizer/BioNTech Pfizer inspire trust to 70% of the surveyed.

As the Covid vaccination campaign is growing in France, more and more French seem to be giving Moderna vaccine the cold shoulder yet said to be effective and statistically safer than other rivals’ products. For what reason? Keep reading to find out more. [Read more]

Therefore, most of French would rather be given a dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the first jab to have been approved in France. So, faced with this growing distrust towards some vaccines – especially Moderna – the French Health Minister is considering to stop giving the name of the vaccine given to the person when making an appointment, Europe 1 says.

Is it possible to anonymize doses of vaccines? As Europe 1 explains, it creates a problem because all vaccines are not interchangeable and two of them (AstraZeneca and Janssen) target people over 55 years of age. Yet, two vaccines are identical, namely the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines. Therefore, there is no reason to differentiate these two serums, the Health Minister reminded. So, will they decide not to communicate which of these two vaccines will be given anymore when making an appointment? The issue has not been resolved at this stage.
