The French are impatiently waiting for the official announcement of the reopening calendar for places closed because of the Covid epidemic in France. On that matter, French President Emmanuel Macron stated this Thursday April 29, 2021, these reopening steps might be progressive and announced a 3-step calendar covering from May 19 to June 30, 2021. Wednesday June 9 marks the second phase of this plan including the reopening of bars, cafés and restaurants inside.
Although since May 19 only outdoor terraces have been able to reopen, June 9, 2021 is a genuine relieve for most food industry professionals as they no longer have to suffer from the weather. As a matter of fact, starting from this Wednesday, bars, cafés and restaurants can welcome patrons inside again!
As so far, they were only able to open their terraces with a gauge limited to 50% of the capacity of the terrace, the new health protocol states that starting from Wednesday June 9, food industry professionals can reopen terraces at 100%, but only with seated patrons and a fitted health protocol. And they can also welcome patrons within their restaurants, but with a 50% gauge. Furthermre, inside and outside, tables can only fit 6 people maximum.
And the good news is that starting from this June 9, 2021, curfew moves from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. so you can enjoy a date, a family dinner or a friend reunion in the evening as well.
As for the health protocol, the "call-back notebook" will still be in need to be able to contact people who were close if a patron tests positive to coronavirus in the days following their visits, but it will also be possible to record your presence by scnaning the restaurant's QR Code via the "Tous Anti Covid" app.
