As the government has recently revealed their lockdown exit plan and the reopening calendar, and that the French can now see further than the tips of their noses, this is some bad news. As a matter of fact, this Thursday April 29, 2021, the Health Minister announced three cases of Indian variant have been detected in France. It is the Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional health agency that made the announcement first.
The B.1.617 variant – the real name of the Indian variant known as more contagious and deadly than the original virus as well as than the other variants – has been detected in Lot-et-Garonne in one patient, and in two patients in Bouches-du-Rhône.
In the detail, the person infected by the double mutant Indian variant in Lot-et-Garonne is a woman coming back from Inda and “symptomatic”. Tested positive, she has been self-isolating since April 9. “Only one of her at-risk contact identified has caught the virus during her quarantine”, the Health Minister claims.
As for the other two cases in Bouches-du-Rhône, they are people also coming back from India, “but without relationship between the two of them”. They both have been “placed into quarantine immediately after their arrivals” and “tested positive at the very beginning of their quarantine, on April 19 for the first patient, and on April 27 for the second one”.
