Covid: France can reach herd immunity from “late August”, Odile Launay thinks

As the vaccination campaign improves a bit more in France, infectious disease specialist and member of the vaccine Scientific Committee Odile Launay thinks the country can reach herd immunity against Covid by “late August”, on the condition the French “accept” vaccination.

The issue of the herd immunity keeps on feeding debates. This Monday May 3, 2021, on Radio Classique, infectious disease specialist Odile Launay considered this famous herd immunity could be reached in France from “late August” but only if the French “accept” vaccination.

We’re about to see more and more doses of vaccines arrive, we’ve got vaccines extraordinarily effective”, the infectious disease specialist and member of the vaccine Scientific Committee stated.

For the record, vaccination is open since May 1, 2021 to people between 18 and 55 years of age suffering from chronic diseases.

This past April 30, Emmanuel Macron also confirmed vaccination opens to all adults from June 15, 2021.

As for European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton, he stated this past March herd immunity could be reached by July 14 in Europe.
