The World Health Organization fears coronavirus to be more deadly in 2021 than in 2020! According to General Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, “we're on track for the second year of this pandemic to be far more deadly than the first”.
This Sunday May 16, 2021, as the world reports 3,382,626 dead and 162,414,480 confirmed cases, WHO fears the pandemic to be more deadly in 2021 than it has been in 2020. As a matter of fact, there is a regular increase in the monthly case toll for several weeks. This past April 21, the World Health Organization deplored a new contamination toll record in the world and said the January’s peak had been exceeded.
To try and limit damages, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reminded we have a weapon to limit the virulence of coronavirus and encouraged developed countries to donate more vaccine doses to the Covax system to give them to poor nations. He also demands to not vaccinate children and teenagers to give as many doses as possible.
