A new American study carried out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), issued on August 31, 2021, gives another argument for vaccination.
Over the past months, links have been made between the injection Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and risk of developing myocarditis, namely a heart inflammation, especially in boys and young men. But the paper on this very topic is clear: myocarditis risk is higher for Covid than for the vaccine.
“Overall, myocarditis was uncommon among persons with and without COVID-19; however, COVID-19 was significantly associated with an increased risk for myocarditis, with risk varying by age group”, the authors wrote, as they ran over data from over 900 hospitals for the study.
Furthermore, according to the CDC’s paper, between March 2020 and January 2021, patients suffering from Coronavirus were 16 times more likely to develop myocarditis than people who did not have the virus. An especially big risk in people under 16 and over 50 years of age.
According to the study’s data, the number of consultations for myocarditis in these hospitals has been 42% higher in 2020 than in 2019 because of the Covid epidemic.
