England – that faced a genuine Omicron wave before other countries – is working on this new variant to learn more about its resistance to vaccines and contagiousness. The UK health security agency has just unveiled immunity drops only ten weeks after the third dose.
The vaccines’ cover duration seems to quickly decrease after the booster shot. The study unveils with a three-Pfizer-dose scheme, protection reaches 70% and drops to 45% ten weeks after the third shot. For two doses of Pfizer and a Moderna booster, effectiveness reaches 70-75% for 9 weeks before declining.
Could a fourth dose be needed earlier than expected? Data are impressive with new records in contamination toll, including over 100,000 new contaminations on Christmas eve in France. But, according to primary studies, Omicron dramatically cuts down hospitalization compared to Delta and is found far less dangerous.
