Galeries Lafayette is the leader of these unmissable days. A vehicle for Parisian influence and taste around the world, the department store was opened on Boulevard Haussmann on January 15, 1894, and the Coupole was built in 1912. A veritable landmark of Art Nouveau Paris, Galeries Lafayette was quick to take advantage of contemporary artists, modernity and innovation, and has welcomed thousands of visitors every day since then.
A visit to Galeries Lafayette by night
To celebrate its 130th anniversary and the European Heritage Days, Galeries Lafayette is unveiling an exclusive program of tours highlighting its close links with contemporary creation. At nightfall, when the doors of the department store close, visitors will have the privilege of entering this emblematic location to discover its history and behind-the-scenes stories. The visit will be punctuated by a preview screening of six By Night creations; artistic films shot at night at Galeries Lafayette in which contemporary artists and designers paint a singular, intimate and creative portrait of this unique place.
An original musical performance by Will Guthrie will take place in the Coupole.

Since 2021, nine directors have been invited to take a look at Galeries Lafayette, through a nocturnal stroll through its spaces. This unprecedented encounter between this iconic place and contemporary creation highlights the rich heritage and culture of the department store, which has never ceased to inspire artists and creators over the centuries. A mix of fiction and documentary, these cartes blanches, accompanied by original musical compositions, explore the spaces and intimacy of the department store from an unprecedented angle. Each nocturnal rendezvous offers viewers a unique and surprising timeless experience, transporting them to places not accessible during the day.
