For the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), we're off to discover the capital's places of worship. Many churches open their doors to the public and organize guided tours. In the 3rd arrondissement, for example, Sainte-Elisabeth-de-Hongrie, the conventual church of the Order of Malta, will be open to the public on September 21, 2024.
This open house weekend gives us the opportunity to discover this magnificent building, erected as early as 1628! Queen Marie de Médicis laid the foundation stone for this building, which has welcomed illustrious representatives of the nobility: the church bell is sponsored by the Duc d'Angoulême, Grand Prior of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, and Charlotte de Montmorency.
Take advantage of the Journées du Patrimoine to discover this monument with its rich history. And don't stop there: many other places await you this September weekend! Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine give us the opportunity to explore every nook and cranny of the capital, and admire its cultural and historical treasures.
Visit this historic and spiritual monument dating from 1628.
