In addition to museums, castles and other historic monuments, the Journées du Patrimoine are also an opportunity to visit places that are rarely open to the public. And in Paris, when it comes to exceptional openings, there's plenty to do! For this 2019 edition, we invite you to take a stroll around Montmartre to discover the Calvaire cemetery, which opens its doors to you for the weekend of September 21 to 22, 2019.

This is the smallest and oldest Parisian cemetery that can still be discovered in the capital today. Normally, it only opens to the general public on November 1st. But for the Journées du Patrimoine 2019 in Paris, this cemetery adjoining theSaint-Pierre de Montmartre parish church is exceptionally opening its doors for a weekend. Discover the fascinating history of this 600m2 site, listed as a historical monument, where people were buried right up to the Revolution.

To discover its every secret during the Journées du Patrimoine, guided tours are organized throughout the weekend of September 21 to 22, 2019, from 10am to 6pm. There's also a magnificent view of the jewel of Montmartre: the Sacré-Coeur !
