There's one monument that's particularly dear to the hearts of Parisians. Considered to be the heart of the capital, towering above France's road network, Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral has inspired many artists, including Victor Hugo.
This impressive medieval edifice fascinates those who come to contemplate it. The fire that ravaged this historic monument in April 2019 has, unsurprisingly, aroused great emotion. Currently under construction, the cathedral is due to reopen by 2024.
In the meantime, during the Journées du Patrimoine 2023, theAtelier Baudouin located in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés in the Val-de-Marne is offering a rare opportunity: to admire the process of restoring the cathedral's stained glass windows, through a commented presentation that allows us to discover exceptional know-how, and priceless historical pieces.
Bonus? Children are welcome! You'll learn more about the various stages involved in bringing these masterpieces back to life. Please note, you can only touch with your eyes: photographs are not permitted.
