To celebrate the Journées du Patrimoine, the embassy is opening its doors to visitors free of charge. It's an opportunity for us to immerse ourselves in the country's customs and traditions, as well as to discover theHôtel de La Ferronnays, also known as the Hôtel Schneider. This private mansion has been the headquarters of the Brazilian Embassy since 1971, and is well worth a visit.
Built in the first half of the 19th century, it belonged to Arthur Louis Gibert, who bequeathed the property to his daughters, both of whom were countesses. It was Guillelmine Marie Lucie, Countess Adolphe de La Ferronnays, who gave her name to the building.The hotel passed from hand to hand, undergoing several transformations before being sold to Brazil.
