The Journées du Patrimoine 2023, scheduled for September 16 and 17, 2023, is a not-to-be-missed event for lovers of French history. Over the course of a weekend, we're invited to discover our heritage in a whole new way, through a fabulous program of visits and events, often free of charge, at museums, monuments, châteaux and even in places usually inaccessible to the general public. Paris and the surrounding region become a playground for enthusiasts and the curious, who can take advantage of an unprecedented program packed with good deals.
The flamboyant Château de Versailles, located in the Yvelines region of France, is one of the highlights of this year's Journées du Patrimoine. Built during the reign of Louis XIV, nicknamed the Sun King, it is one of the most visited monuments in the world, as well as the most emblematic château in French heritage. From the famous Galerie des Glaces to the sublime French gardens designed by André Le Nôtre, this royal residence is brimming with sublime spaces testifying to the richness ofFrench history.
