The Musée National de la Marine takes us on a voyage to the seven seas of the world, with its exceptional collections of statues, paintings, models, photographs, outfits and navigation equipment. The museum recounts the history and importance of the navy to France, in a thematic tour.
This museum, next door to the Musée de l'Homme, is located on the Place du Trocadéro in Paris. It will be opening its doors free of charge on September 21 and 22, 2024, for the 41st Journées du Patrimoine. Throughout the weekend, visitors young and old can take part in special events and tours.
Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) give us the opportunity to explore new cultural and historical sites in Paris and the Île-de-France region. Museums, castles, places of worship, gardens, department stores, backstage public transport systems, ministries and parliaments, historic monuments and artisan workshops all play their part, to the delight of the curious and the passionate.
30-minute tours of the recently renovated museum.
Sailors used to sing to accompany their work, to give themselves courage or to relax on board.
Since September 10, sailors' songs have been listed on the French National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Come and discover this rich musical repertoire of the people of the sea, and listen to some of the songs performed by singers from L'Armée du Chalut and Touline.
Young and old, try your hand at knot-tying by making your own pomme de touline, or bring yourself good luck by creating your own red pompom!
From age 3.
Stop off with our storytellers to rediscover timeless tales and legends from the maritime world.
Model boats are the historic heart of the museum's collections. Come and meet our restorers and learn how models are preserved and restored today.
In the auditorium, a recent acquisition is presented exclusively by a museum professional. A unique and intimate encounter that highlights the enrichment of collections, a fundamental mission of museums in France.
Many other museums take part in this festive annual event: choose your next outing from our special selection!
