The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) take place every year on the third weekend in September. For two days, numerous cultural, artistic, historical and unusual sites open their doors to the public, to showcase their history and special features. The Domaine de Chamarande, inEssonne, is taking part in this major cultural event!
On September 21 and 22, 2024, the Château de Chamarande and its grounds will be open to all. This magnificent 98-hectare estate, accessible from Paris by RER C train, has a rich history dating back to Gallo-Roman times! The estate is home to a park that has been awarded the " jardin remarquable" label, a contemporary art center, the Essonne departmental archives and an accommodation center for schoolchildren.
Here's a good plan just the way we like it! It's an opportunity to discover a place rich in culture, while taking advantage of what we hope will be mild weather and family activities organized over the two days. To find out more about the activities on offer, see the program below.
As part of the European Heritage Days, discover our 98-hectare garden on a fitness walk. This is a two-voice tour, in the company of a guide and a representative of a sports federation.
Get back into shape by following the history of the estate and discovering the "Sports Complex" exhibition!

Meet at Chamaland
At the Essonne departmental archives
Against the backdrop of the motor sport boom, the Linas-Montlhéry Autodrome was the 5th such venue, after Brooklands (UK) in 1907, Indianapolis (USA) in 1910, Monza (Italy) in 1922 and Miramas (France) in July 1924. This exhibition retraces the centenary history of this record-breaking facility and crucible of innovation in mobility, based on the archives of Philippe Maillard-Brune, former director of the Autodrome, held by the Archives Départementales.
Take a trip behind the scenes of history, and let us guide you through the twists and turns of Essonne memory.
A wonderful family weekend awaits you, in an absolutely magnificent setting! And by the way, have you taken a look at the other events planned in the châteaux during this exceptional weekend?
