On Sunday, you can take part in reading workshops as part of the Cultural Olympics. A 4 x 4 page relay, because at Balzac, we're all about exercising our brains!
4 workshops will be offered throughout the day, so that many of you will be able to take part.
" Chez Balzac, ça matche" or it breaks. This is how Isabelle Mimouni introduces the edition she is in charge of, which brings together three short stories by the author of La Comédie humaine: La Maison du chat-qui-pelote (1830), Le Bal de Sceaux (1830) and La Bourse (1832). What links these three texts? The question of choice in love.
Martine Reid edits Delphine de Girardin's La Canne de M. de Balzac, with the determination to rehabilitate this female author to whom Balzac recommended writing a great book. On the contrary, she chose to write a parodic text featuring Balzac's legendary cane, reputed to make him invisible so that he could slip into the skin of all his characters, here and elsewhere.
Isabelle Mimouni is a Balzac specialist and member of the Groupe d'études balzaciennes. She has edited several works by Balzac for Folio.
Martine Reid is a specialist in 19th-century literature, George Sand and the works of 18th- and 19th-century women
At 5pm: after the meeting, book signing at the museum reception
This meeting will resonate with our next exhibition "Illusions conjugales perdues" (working title. November 20 - March 30 2025).
