Environment and planet defenders are willing to make their voices heard and shake the public debate as the presidential elections are around the corner. To do so, several organizations and associations, including Unis Pour Le Climat et la biodiversité, Attac France and Les Amis de la Terre France, call for a new day of rallying and protest everywhere in France. After a first massive rally on Saturday March 12, organizers of the “Look up” walk call for a new protestation on Saturday April 9, 2022.
The day before the first round of the presidential elections, protestors want to remind the importance of the fight against climate change, a fight that can no longer wait.

As for the slogan of these new walks for climate and social justice, organizers have decided to draw inspiration from the famous “Don’t Look Up” movie. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep and Chris Evan, the movie – available on Netflix – is a spine-chilling parallel with climate change and its dramatic consequences on our lives.
“Don’t Look Up” has “enabled to place several major issues back into the public debate” the NGOs say in a release published on Facebook before adding: “As the 2nd section of the GIEC’s latest report is release, climate emergency is now undeniable; but instead of facing up to the truth and take responsibilities, political leaders and multinationals deliberately look away, or even spoil the very hope of a fair and bearable future”, they explain.
Furthermore, organizes of the next walks for climate – renamed “Look Up” on the occasion – call for protestors to “open their eyes”, considering the next five years “will be decisive to redress the balance”.
The new meeting for climate defenders is settled: April 9, 2022, several cities housing once more walks for climate. During the previous walk, organizes said this April 9 protest will be bigger and provide a “giant” concert, they told our peers from Le Monde.
This walk for climate is to leave at 2 p.m. from the Place de la Bastille heading to the Place de la République where a big concert is to be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. On the event's Facebook, we are told "art performances will be performed all along the walk with Louisadonna, MAB and Emma Beatson".
Headlining the show for climate, Jacques, Suzane, Cyril Dion and Sébastien Hoog, Terrenoire, Lazy Flow and many more artists.
