A virtual House of Ukraine is coming to the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris. A solidarity-driven project to welcome and accompany those affected by the war. In other words, a positive prospect for the future of young Ukrainians!

Faced with Ukraine’s immeasurable distress, the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (14th) plans to create a Virtual House of Ukraine to help students, researchers and academics from the country ravaged by war.

First site to welcome students and international researchers in Paris for about 100 years, the Cité internationale universitaire elaborates this solidarity-driven project in partnership with renown architect Jean Michel Wilmotte. This highly symbolic collective work will suggest a place close to a reality for there was no House of Ukraine to date within the Cité.

“Operational” from the start of school 2022, it will welcome and support up to 500 students, researchers and academics affected by the war in Ukraine. The 3 goals set for the Cité internationale Universitaire are:

  • Welcoming them among the 43 Houses on the campus
  • Supporting their success (administration, medical follow-up, teaching French, cultural activities…)
  • Preserving their youth and preparing their futures

To make the project feasible, the Cité Internationale Universitaire launches a call for donations, an NFT sale of Jean-Michel Wilmotte’s drawings and an auction sale at Sotheby’s France, Europe and New York planned on June 9. The money collected will also be used to create an emergency fund.
