After the important mobilization against the pension reform on May 1st, the unions want to continue the movement. This Wednesday, May 3, 2023, a new rally is planned in Paris, at the call of the CGT. The meeting is set for 4:30 pm on rue de l'Amiral de Coligny on the Place du Louvre in the 1st district of the capital.
This date is not chosen at random, since the Constitutional Council is due to give its opinion this Wednesday, May 3, on a new and second request for a shared initiative referendum filed by the Nupes parliamentarians.
Moreover, this demonstration, declared as a static gathering, was initially planned to take place in the Place du Palais Royal, near the Constitutional Council. But the Prefecture of Police decided to prohibit this rally. In a decree, the Prefecture finally announced that " the demonstration could be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm on the rue de l'Amiral de Coligny on the Place du Louvre in Paris-Centre ".
Because of this new mobilization in Paris, the RATP announces the closure of a metro station, namely the Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre station (lines 1 and 7), starting at 3pm. " Access to the Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre station will be closed ", says RATP, which specifies that " connections in the station will be impossible ".
We recall that the inter-union calls for a new day of strikes and demonstrations on June 6.
Another day of strikes and demonstrations scheduled for Friday, October 13, 2023
