While the protest movement continues among farmers, teachers are called to a unitary strike and demonstration this Thursday, February 1, 2024. Several teachers' unions(FSU, CGT, FO, SUD-Education, UNSA-Education, SGEN-CFDT) have called for a day of mobilization this Thursday to highlight their situation. " The recruitment crisis in education is worsening, and all studies show that low salaries are the main obstacle to the attractiveness of the education professions," explain the unions in a press release. " Our organizations are demanding real pay rises, in particular a significant increase in the index point for all staff in this context of high inflation, as well as the abandonment of the pact," they add. The unions also denounce job cuts and the " forced implementation of reforms ".
Teachers are therefore called on to strike and demonstrate across France on Thursday, February 1, 2024. According to FSU-SNUipp, the main primary school teachers' union, this mobilization could involve up to 40% of teachers across France.
